Bok Chong Lot (Flying Knee)
Difficulty: AdvancedAll Strikes
The flying knee is the most dramatic knee technique in Kun Khmer, a leaping strike that uses the full momentum of the body behind the knee for devastating impact. It is a high-risk, high-reward technique that can end a fight instantly when it lands cleanly.
Steps
- Create distance from the opponent by pushing off from the clinch or stepping back briefly.
- Take a short, explosive step forward and launch off the rear foot, driving the lead knee upward.
- At the peak of your jump, drive the knee forward and upward into the target, aiming for the chest or face.
- Land on both feet after the strike, immediately recovering your stance and guard.
Key Points
- The flying knee requires commitment — half-hearted attempts lack the power and trajectory to be effective.
- Disguise the setup by varying your entries; do not always launch from the same position.
- Drive the arms downward as you jump to increase the upward momentum of the knee.
Common Mistakes
- Jumping from too far away, allowing the opponent to side-step or brace for impact.
- Not committing fully, resulting in a weak knee that pushes rather than strikes.
- Landing off-balance after the technique, leaving yourself vulnerable if the knee does not finish the fight.
Targets
- Face
- Chin
- Chest
- Solar plexus
